MiFi, Internet use and Instant Play at Netflix....

So as you already know, I got the Verizon MiFi to be my primary Internet access at home. I am still waiting on my iTouch to arrive, so I'm not using the Internet all too much. Here is my usage below. I had ordered the 250 MB b/c I am cheap, and wanted to save a few dollars until I got all my Internet necessary toys delivered. 8 days, and a few minutes a night browsing Facebook and I had exceeded my 250 MB limit! Actually, that 131.43 MB use, I was webcam'ing with my brother and adorable niece, so it was completely worth it :)

05/03/2010 4:30 PM MBB 5GB $0.05MB W/CAP 43.58 MB
05/01/2010 4:05 PM MBB 5GB $0.05MB W/CAP 131.43 MB
04/28/2010 7:03 PM MBB 5GB $0.05MB W/CAP 10.33 MB
04/28/2010 7:31 PM MBB 5GB $0.05MB W/CAP 26.4 MB
04/28/2010 8:35 PM MBB 5GB $0.05MB W/CAP 0.06 MB
04/27/2010 6:15 PM MBB 5GB $0.05MB W/CAP 27.53 MB
04/26/2010 5:27 PM MBB 5GB $0.05MB W/CAP 33.47 MB
04/23/2010 5:45 PM MBB 5GB $0.05MB W/CAP 7.13 MB

Once I got the email stating that I had gone over my bandwidth limit, I had to make a decision. Pay the 10¢ for each MB I use between 5/3 to 5/18, stay off the Internet, or upgrade now to the 5G plan for $20 more a month.   I chose to upgrade!
I figured it would be the best time to stream a movie from Netflix to see how much bandwidth that uses up.
Here is my usage last night to figure out how to use Instant Play thru the Wii:

05/04/2010 8:23 PM MBB 5GB $0.05MB W/CAP 47.74 MB - searching on the computer for a movie i want to watch
05/04/2010 8:43 PM MBB 5GB $0.05MB W/CAP 15.22 MB - I'm guessing online thru the Wii
05/04/2010 8:47 PM MBB 5GB $0.05MB W/CAP 414.88 MB - streaming the 1hr 38min movie

I now know I'm on the right track having the 5G.

Instant Play thru the Wii worked wonderfully. The pictures was good quality and it was super easy. I'm excited to have movies at my finger tips!

Verizon MiFi and Netflix for the Wii

Last Monday I received an email from Netflix indicating that my Streaming Disc for the Wii is expected to arrive on Tuesday. This put a huge smile on my face. I have been waiting for this for a few months now. Then I realized, holy crap, I'm in the dark ages right now, I don't even have Internet at home! Can you believe it! I have a 50' Plasma TV, the Wii, PS2, and no Internet. I even work for a company that provides Internet to companies, yikes! So I decided that this is a good time to get some data up in here. I gave Verizon a call and ordered the Verizon MiFi. It arrives today. Now my biggest problem is, I was a cheapo and went with the 250Mb bandwidth instead of the 5G. There was a whopping $20 difference! But will I go over my 250Mb quote and get charged 10¢ for every meg there after for 1 movie?? Does anybody know? I am sure I will eventually upgrade to the 5G but until then, do I chance it and see how much bandwidth it takes? Try it out with just a TV show first? These are the questions I am going over in my head today while I anticipate 4:15 pm when I walk in my apt and find my lil MiFi.

Update on the Amazon Trade In Program

So back on the 12th I sent out my two Wii games to Amazon's Trade In Program. I received an email on the 18th that my games were received and approved, and just like that, I had a $12.50 gift card amount deposited into my Amazon account. Pretty fast turn around. Just as a planned to do, I went and purchased Wii Fit Plus. It shipped today, so we will see once I get it what the game is like.
So all in all, I had a great experience with Amazon's Trade in Program for Video Games.
So trade away!

Amazon Trade-In Video Games

I have the Wii, as the majority of people do. I don't buy many games, b/c really, I just like the active ones. Wii Sports; Wii Fit; Guitar Hero and my favorite at the moment; Just Dance! Back for my birthday my brother asked me what I wanted, so I told him a Wii game that will stimulate my mind. A few days later I got Big Brain Academy; Wii Degree in the mail. I played it a bunch and started to get good at it (except the math) so I took it out of the console, never to look back. I felt like I've conquered it, now it's time to move on. Once I got the Wii Fit and the balance board, I wanted to venture out and play games with it, so I bought Wii Ski. This game was nothing like I expected, and I actually never mastered it, b/c I thought it was annoying. So this came out of the console, never to return.
Now it's February 2010 and Wii Fit came out with a Plus edition. I'm curious. I started to search the web, where can I buy it, how much, and what do people have to say about it. I stumbled upon it on Amazon, and noticed in the left hand column there was a link to the Amazon Trade-In Program. I started to search away on the two games above. I found out I could get $6.50 and $6.00 back for both games. This made my wheels start turning... if i get $12.50 back for trading in 2 Wii games and Wii Fit Plus was going for $19.96, then I can basically pay less then $8 for a new Wii game. Now this I like. I decided to check the trade in value of Wii Fit Plus (just in case I'm not impressed), and found out I can get $16 for it. Pretty good deal if you ask me. I'm still trying to figure out how the value is determined. Must have something to do with how much it is going for on Amazon. Anyways, today I decided to submit my trade ins and sent them off in the mail via free shipping thru UPS. I had to chase the UPS guy outside because I just missed him in the office. Off they go... now I will just wait patiently (probably impatiently) for my games to be approved as "in good condition" by a third party of Amazon before my $12.50 credit show up in my Amazon account.

Molly and Wally Molecule is now on Amazon!!!

So 2 of my friends wrote a really cool children's book. It's called Molly and Wally Molecule. It's about a brother and sister and all of their adventures as a molecule. It's really cute and colorful! I am super proud of them. Dean taught himself Adobe Illustrator and Design and did all of the illustrations himself. Christine came up with the adventurous story. The 2 of them have been working on it for over a year and it really turned out great! The book is made from recycled material, printed with organic inks and is manufactured in the USA. So now the book exists, the next hurdle is to get it out there and known! Christine is doing what she can to make this happen, it is a bit tough, but when you believe in a product, it's an easy sale. She got it on Amazon last week.
